Fall News

This is my favourite time of year.  School starts up again, hockey season is here and knitting just makes sense.  I knit all year round but when it is 30 degrees and sticky, it seems like the wrong kind of activity.  But fall, crisp air and the gorgeous leaves...well it makes me want to cast on all things, all of them, right now!

At the studio, I have been busy dyeing all sorts of pretty things for our fall shows and to update our website (big one coming October 4).  Here's where we will be this fall if you would like to visit in person:

September 24 - Prairie Fiber Fest in Lacombe, AB

September 30-October 1 - Knit City in Vancouver, BC

October 21 - Fibre Shindig in Calgary, AB

These will be our only shows this fall so come on by and say hi if you are in the area!  We would love to see you.

Introducing officially, Turtle Bay Worsted.  This is a new custom spun yarn we have added to our STFA line up.  It is a wicked blend of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon, in a 12 ply cabled yarn.  Perfect for all your sweaters, blankets and even those squishy thick socks!

In other news, wool prices have increased alot over the last year and we are going to have to raise prices, just a little...and only on a few bases...  We will keep you posted about that and it won't happen until November 1.

Finally, I am really excited about our collaboration with the awesome Myrna Batten who has many cool patterns featuring Sea Turtle yarns heading our way this fall.  Myrna designed our epic Sea Turtle socks and the super cool "Cool Name" socks.  I see a cardigan or two for the fall too so stay tuned.

Please also welcome to our Sea Turtle crazies -  Shauna.  She is our cool booth babe who will be at our Alberta shows this fall and is also working with me in the studio.  Many of our sweet new samples have been flying off Shauna's needles, so yay!!

Have a great September and I hope to see you soon.  Happy knitting!
